American journalist, hacktivist and founder of Project PM, a crowdsourced research collaboration and wiki, to analyze the 2012–13 Stratfor email leak (WikiLeaks's Global Intelligence Files, which were supplied by Anonymous).
He founded Project PM, a research collaboration and wiki, to facilitate analysis of the troves of hacked emails and other leaked information concerning the inner workings of the cyber-military-industrial complex.[1]

Relatively Free is a documentary film released in 2016 by Field of Vision about Brown's drive across Texas to a halfway house after he was released from prison.[78]
Barrett Brown's case was included as a plot point in Season 2 of the U.S. TV series House of Cards.[79]
